Malifaux Tournament 5th May 2012

Report from the Malifaux Beginners Tournament 5th May

Sorry for the delay but I couldn't find my camera until today so here goes.

On the 5th May a group of ner-do-wells meet to through down some cards and cheat fate as best they could. Each round you can score 4 points from the scenario and up to 4 points from your schemes(which are best thought as secondary point scoring objectives you get to choose, but can only choose them once during the whole tournament) to give you a max score of 8 per game.

We had
Dan - Lady Justice with her Death Marshals
Mathew - Dr McMorning with his lab built monsters
Neil - Kiari and her spirits
Pat - Colette and the showgirls
Rob - Lucius the 2nd in command of the Guild
and me with the deadly duo of the Victoria's.

We started with Slaughter which is kill the other guy before he kills you. Everyone chose their schemes. After some hard battles the results were

Bryan 8    vs Dan 2
Mathew 4 vs Neil 1
Pat 5         vs Rob 0

Next we played Recconitior were you have to control the board, which is split in to 4 sections and have to have more models than the other player in each section. The results were

Dan 7       vs Rob 2
Mathew 3 vs Bryan 7
Neil 4       vs Pat 3

The last game was Claim Jump which is hold the centre, and have more models in 3", this finish with

Neil 6  vs Rob 1
Dan 4  vs Mathew 0
Pat 1   vs Bryan 1

So the final scores were counted and the winners are

1st                   Dan

2nd                  Neil

3rd                   Mathew

Best Painted    Neil
Most Sporting  Mathew

A big well done to the winners who got vouchers to spend at 7th Heaven thanks to Rob.

How not to prepare running a tournament

I'm back

Hi all
Sorry I've been gone for a while but real life got in the way, but should be back on track.

Things I've been up to

- Malifaux - I've been organising with Pat from the Sailsbury Wargames Order a beginers tournment on the 5th May in Salisbury

- Warmachine - I've had a small khador force, that has now been added to and I've also started Cygnar

- Flames of War - Thanks to a new member of the club called Paul I've broken out some old 15mm peter pig models I had, rebased them and now have 1000pts of US Infantry company and German Heer Gepanzerte Panzergrendierkompanie (armoured infantry). I'm really enjoying this system, and you can have lots of tanks.

- Infinity - I finally got to use my Morat Aggression Force in anger, and they hit like a tonne of bricks, epescially a full linked team lead by a HMG.

- Salute - Had  A great day out with Karl, Adam, & Ben. Bought some Flames of War, Terrian, and found some great Cygnar in Bring & Buy.

- Painting Terrian - Have one table finished and now have finish the graveyard ready for the 5th of May.

I will start putting up some more articles soon and pictures.

KR Multicase Accessory Case

Here is quick reveiw of my KR Accessory Case which can find here
http://www.krmulticase.com/accessories.aspx
The 4 clips on the side make it very strong when closed and I have never had it come open, even when dropped.
As you can see they are £10 each empty or £15 with tape measure and dice (you just get the tape measure for £2.50).
I would get the tape measure as it is a thin enough to fit in the case and is not over priced so is a no brainer add on.
I use my case with my Malifaux case and it fits in very well(see blog http://hobbydad.blogspot.com/2012/02/my-malifaux-case.html) so what can you fit?
In mine I have a Guild and Outcast deck(yes I am that anal), the KR tape measure, a dry wipe pen, beads for soulstones, and print outs for counters.
This is a usaul layout mid game the left hand side is my deck with my current soulstones next to them, my hand sits at the bottom left. I use the dry wipe pen as a line, then evrything to the right has been used, so my discard pile and used soulstones go over this side. This way works well for both players as it is quick and easy to read.
One big bonus to doing this is it keeps your cards nice and clean, as they have saved the deck when someone knocked over a pint on the edge of the table, my friend had to buy a new deck, I did not. I now offer the other 1/2 to my friend when we play. If he doesn't I keep the counters we may need in it.
So my parting remarks would be for the price it is a fantasic investment, makes it easier to play, can protect your gaming bits, and look awesome. If you buy one you won't go back to not gaming without one.

My Malifaux case

I have had some people ask how what I use to transport my models around in so here is the Malifaux case I use layed out the best way I have found.
I use a single card KR Multicase (find them here http://www.krmulticase.com/ ), these are aloy better than the plastic GW ones I use before as they can hold the same, have a smaller outer case dimensions so are easier to carry, they also stack together one on top of each other, and due to some tabs lock together very well.
Open the lid.....
As you can I have 1 large top sheet the top layer is my mostly painted Outcasts, and the awesome mini Malifaux rulebook sat on top a 1/2 top sheet, then on to the next....
On the second layer we have the KR (dice tin or in my case malifaux bits tin) and the the old Lady J and death Marshals with some mostly put together Lucius crew plus the new Lady J and Exorcist. I will go over the game tin in a seperate post. Then the final layer....
This is the end, here is my cards for both factions in the case with enough room from the Hunters and a Peacekepper to go in, then on the other side is the large 40mm base models and larger area models, plus a Hoffman and bits to be put together.

So there you are enough room for 4 crews easily 5 could fit, so you would have room for a faction a case plus have room for cards and other game storage. Not bad for £30 a case, and you choose what combination of foam goes in to your case.
Now I don't have a Battlefoam case to compare, but do have the Space Hulk and Dreadfleet box inserts which are very good(not cheap but very good). So I can't do a comparison, all I can say is after buying my first KR case I have never bought a GW case, and have not found anything I like more.

I took this with me to the Malifaux GT and all arrived safe and sound, no touch ups or glueing needed.

Malifaux Outcasts - WIP

The remaining Freikorps and Desperate Merc need doing.

The new Outcast - Sue. I'm not going to put the flames on and I think he has to break with the rest of my Outcasts and be dressed in black. The base insert is from black cat bases Victorian Streets.
